We began in the picturesque mountain town of Telluride, made our way to the thunderous Box Canyon Falls in nearby Ouray, and ended the day relaxing by the river at Ouray Riverside Cabins. Telluride, Colorado – Mountain Town Vibes We kicked off the day exploring Telluride, a historic former mining town nestled in a dramatic box canyon in the San Juan Mountains . With its colorful Victorian-era buildings and mountain peaks all around, the town’s atmosphere was full of charm and history. We wandered downtown, soaked in the views, and soaked up that quiet alpine vibe that only Telluride delivers. 2. Box Canyon Falls, Ouray Next, we drove to nearby Ouray to visit Box Canyon Falls Park—one of the most powerful waterfalls in Colorado. Water plunges a dizzying 285 feet through a narrow quartzite canyon with walls nearly 100 feet high . The short but dramatic walk along the grated catwalk takes you right beside the roaring water; another trail—High Bridge—climbs up for sweeping views over the canyon rim . Interpretive signs in the visitor center teach about local geology, flora, and the rare **Black Swift” bird colony . It was stunning, powerful, and educational—all in one spot. 3. Ouray Riverside Cabins – Peaceful Evening We wrapped up our first day at the cozy Ouray Riverside Cabins, nestled along the Uncompahgre River.
