What is the Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual Model?

At Reset Ketamine, we practice the Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual Model of Medicine in our approach to patient care. In this video, Dr. Sam Ko shares with you what that means exactly. In this model, we focus not only on the physical (biological/organic) side of medicine, but also the psychological, sociological and spiritual aspects of the patient and how that effects their biology. We believe it's important to not solely focus on treating pain, but also acknowledge and address any social or psychological factors contributing to the pain. For example, when someone comes in with stomach pain, we do not only look at the biological causes of the pain. We ask them, "What what else is going on?" The patient may reply, "My husband and I got into a huge argument and that’s when this pain started." Traditional medicine ignores the patient's response, but at Reset Ketamine, we explore it more.
