"For me, transformation comes when sound holds both rest and renewal, when it carries imagination and energy at the same time.” Heart has always held this goal at the center of her craft. Her music, as Pitchfork once wrote, is less about "candle-lit baths" than "dazzling, hallucinogenic visions," inspired by a radically diverse cast influences, from mythical figures like the mermaid and the Sphinx, to ambient greats like Iasos and Tangerine Dream, to old-school video games like Ecco the Dolphin. Francesca Heart is a musician, dancer and somatic therapist based in Milan. Her records, drifting compositions of acoustic and electronic sounds that serve as both gentle incantations and vivid, imaginary spaces, are as stirring as they are soothing.
