Chasing the 2024 Conrail Santa Train feat. NS 8098 & NJT 4208

On the cold, windy evening of Saturday 12/21, Conrail Shared Assets operated a Santa Train from Oak Island Yard to Port Reading and back, via the Lehigh Line to the Port Reading and Garden State Secondaries. A very snazzy train was on tap for this year, with Norfolk Southern's Conrail heritage unit, ES44AC 8098 and NJ Transit's brand-new Conrail heritage unit, GP40PH-2 4208, an NJT Comet V, two decorated shoving platforms and a Conrail caboose. Despite some anxiety regarding crowds, I decided to head north to grab a few shots of this special train and I'm happy I did. I only planned on getting the train once or twice but ended up doing pretty well on this very cold and windy evening, all things considered.
