[WR] Dawn of War: Winter Assault Speedrun, Disorder Campaign, Normal Difficulty in 45min 31sec.

This run was recorded at the UK Speedrunner Gathering (UKSG) event held in Glasgow on 04/09/2022. The event raised over $6500 for Crisis, the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. My first proper in person event, an opportunity to be a runner AND hitting a world record all while doing commentary. There is clearly still time to be saved as there are several areas where I used marathon safe approaches to some parts rather than the quickest strategies, it also did not help that I blew up one of my own tanks while trying to show viewers what a Necron looks like. Mission 1 went well, not the fastest I've ever done but within about 20 seconds off my best individual level time. I lost a bit due getting unlucky with the Mad Doc getting hit with artillery but otherwise it was reasonably tidy. Mission 2 was a mix: the Gorgutz kill had an excellent surround but I was a little slow bringing down the generator. The tunnel spawns were ok but not great. Most of the time loss on my best level time will have been getting the HQ building in the Imperial base which I have no control over. Nothing you can do about that unfortunately and overall I think it was about 90 seconds back on my best times for this level. Mission 3 was also about 90 seconds back on my best level split but this is where some of the safer strategies came into play. The Sturnn kill was quick enough, no complaints. The sacrifice ritual went well. Most of the lost time will have been where I was trying to explain how to cheese the capture mechanic, which means I wasn't pushing the sorcerer nearly as aggressively as I have done in the past. I also did a few things in a different order to my normal runs, such as prioritising putting up base defences in the north, because I was badly stung by this in a couple of practice runs so decided to run safe on this part. I don't mind losing 90 seconds against a best time on a 15 minute mission. Mission 4 is still amazing in every way. It almost always comes in at about 2 minutes with a 10 second margin of error either side and it didn't disappoint. 10/10 - I have no notes. Mission 5: obviously blowing up my own tank was sub-optimal but even with that it was only about 50 seconds back on my best individual level time. I really tightened up the timing on unit deletions to get the strong reinforcements, something you can see by the Killa Kans and Leman Russ' tanks showing up very quickly after I delete the units in my base. I honestly think all of that 50 seconds was due to me blowing up one of the tanks while I was showing off the Necron infantry (42:49). It happened because the "return camera to default position" key and the "delete unit" key were close to each other and I got them confused on a keyboard layout which was slightly different to my own. I got it right twice earlier in the run, but the third one nearly killed me. Overall new world record!
