Ultimate includes all the characters from the previous installments, along with new characters and DLC fighters. The goal of the game is to wipe out opponents from the arena, either with your own abilities or with items. In addition to the classic mode, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate includes an adventure mode. In this mode, a creature named Kyra must be defeated because it has stolen the fighters' bodies. Kirby is the only character who hasn't been harmed. Therefore, Adventure Mode can only be played with Kirby at the beginning. Kirby and other fighters who are unlocked later in the game can be assisted by so-called Primary Spirits and Sub-Spirits. Primary Spirits and Sub-Spirits can become stronger through snacks. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has an online mode (requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership) and can therefore be played in multiplayer mode (online multiplayer mode).
