Prime Minister Scott Morrison has delivered a blistering attack on Labor for engaging in “fearmongering” about COVID-19 support payments. “Regrettably the labor party has engaged in fearmongering during a pandemic and I think this is disgraceful,” he said. “They are saying things that are blatantly untrue. “I’ve made it very clear there would be a further stage of income support and to make people feel more uncertain in this climate I think is disgraceful and I think it reflects badly on their leadership.” Mr Morrison was referring to a new campaign by Labor party claiming the Coalition would axe JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments in September. Labor leader Anthony Albanese said axing the payments would “devastate” the economy. “We are talking about…$45 million a fortnight being ripped out of this local community,” he said. “Think about what that does to the local community; think about the flow on impact it has for jobs.”
