'Setback for all women': Amber Heard confirmed to appeal verdict

Amber Heard's lawyer has confirmed she will appeal after losing a defamation trial to her former husband, Johnny Depp. Ms Heard described the verdict as a “setback” for women, saying it would hinder domestic violence victims from speaking out. “You know, one of the first things she said is ‘I am so sorry to all those women out there, this is a setback for all women, in and outside the courtroom’, and she feels the burden of that,” Ms Heard’s Attorney Elaine Bredehoft said. Survivors of domestic abuse have said the reaction to Ms Heard has carried undertones of misogyny and that the vilification, they say, could deter victims from coming forward and reporting DV.
