He got the nickname “El Apache” after the neighbourhood he was brought up in - Ejército de Los Andes, also called Fuerte Apache. The Argentine professional footballer has mesmerised the world with his stupendous energy and goal scoring ability making him an indispensable player of the club by fellow players and media alike. He was also given an additional 10% transfer fee along with Joorabchian (15%). Carlos further moved to West Ham United on permanent deals for undisclosed fees along with Javier Mascherano followed by Manchester United on 10 August 2007 and later with Manchester City. With Manchester United, he debuted in a 1–1 draw against Portsmouth. In November, Alex Ferguson, United manager, confirmed that the club wanted to sign Tevez permanently and stated, “He'll get me fifteen goals this season, and what's more, they'll be important goals.” In the international level, Carlos Tevez first came into limelight during the FIFA U-17 World Championship with Argentina. He also won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games and scored eight goals in six matches to be the top scorer of the competition. The same year, he became the world's second-highest goalscorer in overall international competition with a total of sixteen goals, one fewer than Iran's forward, Ali Daei. Additionally, he was called up for the FIFA World Cup finals of 2006 and scored his only goal of the tournament in Argentina's 6–0 group stage against Serbia and Montenegro on 16 June. The soccer legend is best known as a quick, tenacious, powerful, hardworking, dynamic and versatile forward who plays as a striker, as a winger, a supporting forward as well as an attacking midfielder.
