Oral Cancer cases are on the rise! To make sure that you are not suffering from this terrible condition, we recommend that you attend your dentist for your regularly scheduled check ups. Why? Well, as part of your check up, your dentist should be performing an oral cancer screening. This involves visually inspecting all of your mouth, including your lips, gums, cheeks, the roof and floor of your mouth, your throat and your tongue. Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking are the biggest risk factors for oral cancer, but excessive exposure to sunlight and HPV (the virus that causes cervical cancer) are others. Be sure to get your dental check up and oral cancer screening while you're there.
