Transcript: In a divorce case, a commonly asked question is, "If I'm married, and my spouse earns a pension during the marriage, am I entitled to the pension, even though I did not work and I stayed at home, raised the children, cooked, cleaned and provided everything necessary in the household." The answer is very, very simple, yes. A marriage is an economic partnership, and you're entitled to your fair share of what was earned during the marriage. With regards to pensions, they dates are the date of marriage and the date of employment, whichever started later, and then that's the beginning portion of what's earned during the marriage and the ending portion is generally the date the summons and complaint is filed in court and you obtain an index number. There's a complicated formula to be discussed in another video, regarding how you get what your share is and you you obtain it. I'm Jay Lutzky. Hopefully this helped you. Thank you.
