Spinning Tropes into Gold - how do we use tropes from fantasy and literature to make our RPG games better? Find out in this LIVE Stream with Guy. If you are going to ask a question - and please do - place [QUESTION] before your actual question so Guy can see it. What are Tropes? A trope is a storytelling device or convention, a shortcut for describing situations the storyteller can reasonably assume the audience will recognize. Tropes are the means by which a story is told by anyone who has a story to tell. Tropes are not the same thing as cliches. They may be brand new but seem trite and hackneyed; they may be thousands of years old but seem fresh and new. They are not bad, they are not good; tropes are tools that the creator of a work of art uses to express their ideas to the audience. It's pretty much impossible to create a story without tropes. #GreatGM -- The Goblin Bell -- If you enjoy our content, click the bell icon and you will receive notifications of when a new video is up! --- Each week on How to be a Great Game Master: Tuesdays: World Building with World Anvil Wednesdays: Enhancing your storytelling with maps and DungeonFog Thursday's: Game Master's guide and tips to being a great game master Friday: Player character guides and tips on being a great player character in your RPG sessions. ---- -- ---------- ---------------- --------- ----------- ---------- Want some cool modules, maps, and also help support our channels via Patreon? / greatgamemaster Or support us by buying your RPG stuff at Amazon: (US): http://amzn.to/2xTszFF (UK): http://amzn.to/2sQbP3y We are partners with World Anvil, a fantastic world building tool: https://www.worldanvil.com/ Essential stuff that we think every role player needs: https://www.amazon.com/shop/howtobeag... ---- Find out More about us Here ---- Website: https://www.greatgamemaster.com Facebook: / greatgamemaster Twitter: / howtogm --- Want to see me in actual game sessions? ---- Find them here: / baconb
