Toyota Supra concept designer explains why production car doesn't match

Alex Shen, Studio Chief Designer at Calty Design Research, sat down with us to discuss the current state of the concept car and automotive design in general. Alex Shen and Calty famously designed the FT-1 concept for the 2014 Detroit auto show. This concept would go on to be the design inspiration for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra. Alex sheds light on the process of taking that car from concept to final production as well as many other Toyota and Lexus products. This is an extended cut of the interview with Alex Shen from our recent video focusing on concept cars. A big thanks to Alex Shen and Calty Design Studio for their time.
