In this Unreal Engine 5.7 tutorial, we take a look at foliage optimization using some of the newer systems introduced in recent engine versions. We’ll briefly go over Nanite foliage, MegaPlants, and the new voxel-based approach, and then focus on whether this new technology can help us optimize existing foliage assets. The goal of this video is not to replace traditional foliage workflows, but to understand how these new systems work, what problems they solve, and whether they can be used alongside older foliage setups to improve performance and visuals.
