A trailer showcasing the Neo Psycho Soldier Team's capabilities in the King of Fighters XI! Athena Asamiya, Sie Kensou, and Momoko are the members that comprise this team! Athena Asamiya - Originally from Psycho Soldier and a distant relative and modern-day counterpart of Princess Athena from Athena, she later appears as a regular fighter in The King of Fighters series. She is perhaps best known for changing her outfit and hair style for virtually every main installment. Athena is a modern day high school girl in Japan. Athena is very outgoing, polite, and friendly. She is a happy girl with righteous virtues and well-meaning morals. She treasures her fans and those who are helpless and strives to do her best to fight for them. She used to be a bit of a crybaby who was sometimes too scared to fight in the face of danger, but has gotten over this flaw, as it is shown that she has become much braver. She teamed up with her friend, Sie Kensou, to fight in the name of justice. In Psycho Soldiers, she was one of the "heroes of light" who defended the world from the Shiguma forces. Her psychic powers are believed to be transmigrated to her rather than inherited by her family. As such, she is sometimes referred to as the resurrected Athena who is gifted with esper-like powers. For KOF XI, Athena reunites with Kensou after his year of training, and Momoko, one of Athena's fans with psychic capabilities. Athena's abilities consist of a wide array of psychic powers. Telepathy, psychokinesis, projectiles, reflectors, teleportation, and even healing. She was taught Kung Fu by her and Kensou's master Chin Gentsai, probably the style known as Wing Chun. While she's more than capable of hand to hand combat, she mostly relies on her psychic powers to fight. Sie Kensou - Similar to Athena, Kensou also originates from Psycho Soldier. Ever since his first appearance, he has always served as a comic relief character. Despite that, he is a fantastic fighter who is quite capable of holding his own. He is one of the young disciples of Chin Gentsai who wields psychic powers - dubbed by SNK as Psycho Powers. Both he and Athena are trained by Chin to prepare for "the worst case scenario of oncoming evil" and use the tournaments as a method of training for such an event. Plans go awry when Kensou loses his powers in The King of Fighters '99 yet saves Athena with a previously unknown latent energy. It is later revealed to be the Dragon Spirit (龍の気, Ryū no ki), a power he somehow shares with younger teammate, Bao. He later regains his powers and masters this newer power after a year of training, just in time for The King of Fighters XI, much to the satisfaction of former NESTS member, Ron. The deeper meaning of the Dragon Spirit's importance has yet to be revealed. Goofy, outgoing and jovial, Kensou wants to live his young years to their fullest. He's got this massive crush on Athena, but she chooses to ignore it, and every time he's gathered the courage to confess his feelings, he's often cut off or interrupted. Poor Kensou... His powers consist of several psychic abilities, similar to Athena, but to a lesser extent, as he mostly relies on his Kung Fu fighting style. Momoko - Momoko is a new character introduced in the King of Fighters XI. There, she belongs to the Psycho Soldiers along with her idols and martial arts teachers, Athena and Kensou. Her name means Peach child in Japanese. Athena personally asked Momoko to enter. Kensou had his doubts about having a girl who "looks like a grade schooler" on their team. His complaints were quickly silenced by a personal talk (beating) from Athena and she was accepted into the team. Momoko's entry to the King of Fighters tournament, submitted by Athena, sparked the birth of the Neo Psycho Soldier team. Momoko is upbeat, care-free, and curious to explore new or interesting things with a passion. Acting young for her age, she easily gets offended when people confuse her for an elementary school student. She eats a lot and is always a little sad when she's refused food. Although new to the fighting circle, she tries her best to impress Athena. Her abilities consist of psychic powers as well, surprisingly. Telekinesis as well as a psychic beam are part of her arsenal. Her style of fighting most closely resembles Capoeira. While most of her techniques are physical-based, they are accompanied by what looks like stardust.
