This white beard analysis talks about two aspects of his character: Whitebeard’s personality and role in the story and his use as a strong device for world building. In one piece Whitebeard is an ideal of strength and power, something he demonstrates in his fight vs akainu, Black beard, Roger or oden. Due to his pride, for whiteboard death at the Marineford war was always planned and he was hoping to make ace his successor. In the anime and the manga he has some of the best fight scenes in one piece. And no matter what encounter, whitebeard and Roger, whitebeard and shanks or whitebeard and Luffy, it is clear how great of a pirate he is.
