Mahanadi Swells After Release of Water from Hirakud to Munduli Floodwaters from Hirakud have now reached Munduli, leading to a significant rise in the Mahanadi River’s water level. At Munduli, 5.64 lakh cusecs of floodwater is currently flowing. From Naraj, 2.88 lakh cusecs is being discharged. From Jobra, 2.85 lakh cusecs is flowing. Barmul is witnessing a flow of 4.73 lakh cusecs. Through Khairmal, 5.14 lakh cusecs of water is being discharged. At Hirakud, 3.59 lakh cusecs is being released. The water level in Mahanadi and its tributaries is rising steadily. If the discharge crosses 6 lakh cusecs, there is a potential flood threat to low-lying areas.
