White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday spoke about U.S. President Donald Trump being nominated by a Norwegian lawmaker for the Nobel Peace Prize over his recently brokered Israel-United Arab Emirates peace deal. She called it a "hard-earned and well-deserved" honour for the president, in her opinion. Asked about Bob Woodward's new book, which alleges Donald Trump intentionally misled the public as to the true threat posed by COVID-19, McEnany flatly denied the allegations. She claimed that the "second part of the quote" was that Trump did not want to see chaos and that he wanted people to stay calm. She also claimed he "never lied" to the American public about COVID-19. Asked about comments by Trump made in February that COVID-19 would disappear one day "like a miracle," she said that the administration does hope the disease would go away "one day," and added that that Trump has torn through "bureaucracy" to get a safe and effective vaccine, in her opinion.
