Thank you. Past Ikseon-dong It is a very old hanok dense area with about 100 years of history. The area at 165 Ikseon-dong, designated as Hanok Village, was the site of Nudonggung Palace, the residence of Jegye Daewongun, the birthplace of King Cheoljong. However, in 1910, the Korean Empire collapsed due to the Gyeongsul National Rule, and Lee Hae-seung, the grandson of the grandson of Jeongye Daewongun, became a descendant of Joseon after receiving the title of marquis from the Japanese colonial government, sold the site of Nudong Palace and moved to present-day Hong Eun-dong. The site was bought by Jeong Se-kwon, a real estate developer and national activist in Seoul at the time of Japanese colonial era. At that time, Jeong strongly opposed Japan's national extermination policy and supported the independence movement. At that time, when the Japanese tried to infiltrate Ikseon-dong and other buildings in Seoul, they divided the land of Ikseon-dong, which is close to 10,000 pyeong, and sold small hanoks of less than 15 pyeong to ordinary Koreans. Most of them were improved because they were hanok built in Japanese colonial era during the period. Until the early 2000s, Ikseon-dong was a quiet hanok village that was not well known even in Seoul. However, with the decline of all existing hanoks and the development of the surrounding Jongno commercial district, the need for development in this area has also been raised. Therefore, the Seoul Metropolitan Government planned to create an apartment complex in the early 2000s by demolishing all existing hanoks and implementing redevelopment projects. But redevelopment plans drift for more than a decade. In the end, it fell through. This is linked to the commercialization of Ikseon-dong. Current Ikseon-dong As the commercial district developed like this, many young small business owners flowed in. The owners of hanok opposed the redevelopment plan as they were used to giving stores to merchants and receiving monthly rent. Moreover, as SNS culture developed and various movies, dramas, and commercials were frequently filmed in Hanoks in Ikseon-dong, Ikseon-dong emerged as a new dating course and tourist commercial district in downtown Seoul. Especially in the late 2010s, Ikseon-dong's popularity soared thanks to the Newtro syndrome. 801m Hanok Street from Insa-dong to Paradise Shopping Center. Unlike the nearby streets of Insa-dong, fusion-style converted cafes, restaurants, and various shops are located, making it a representative dating course in Seoul that many couples visit. 👉List of famous restaurants in Ikseon-dong Oncheon house - Shabu-Shabu in the Japanese atmosphere Cheongsudang - Emotional Cafe Songam yeogwan - Antique Bar Water Mill - Restaurant, Hydroponic Cultivation Madang - Drama "The Guardian(Dokkaebi)" filming location Cafe.
