GoPro 7 Superwide vs Wide Field of View

GoPro 7 Superwide vs Wide Field of View

I am at Park City, snowboarding on the Treasure Hollow Blue trail. I am filming with the GoPro 7 Black and comparing the Wide FOV with the Superwide FOV. Please tell me what FOV you prefer and what you think of the comparison in the comments. Please share any tips you may have. The first clip is the Wide field of view setting, which is the default go to setting for the GoPro. I think it is a great field of view setting for most point of view action shots, because it has a good balance, with the wide field of view setting that will take good high definition video of the action nearby and the landscape view in the distance. While the fish eye view does distort the images somewhat, bending trees and straight lines on the edges, it is acceptable, with good balance. I use this view a lot for many kayak fishing and mountain biking videos. For snowboarding videos, I use a selfie stick with the Gopro hanging down because it is more stable that way, using gravity to counter any motion. I have the hypersmooth setting turned on. This is a good POV perspective, where the camera is behind the snowboarder and you can see the snowboard action, with the trail/fall line as I snowboard forward. The second clip is the Superwide field of view setting. It has a similar set up as the earlier footage, with a selfie stick, hanging upside down, with hypersmooth setting on. This footage captures more of the snowboarder, with the helmet on the top margin and more of the snowboard in the bottom margin, even though I move right and left as I snowboard. This is the main benefit of this setting, to include more of the snowboarder in the field of view, to get more complete video and camera shots. However, there is more distortion at the edges of the videos, more of that fish bowl feeling, with some trees and other straight lines showing as bent. The snowboard also gets distorted a bit more than the wide field of view setting. Please tell me what FOV you prefer and what you think of the comparison in the comments. Please share any tips you may have. Also, please share this with anyone who likes Gopros. I have other action videos on my channel. If you liked this video, please click like, comment or subscribe. Thanks and have a great day!
