In this video, you are going to hear the sound of two neutron stars colliding! This is the first time, scientists have directly detected gravitational waves - ripples in space and time - in addition to light from the spectacular collision of two neutron stars. To get these sounds, astronomers used the U.S.-based Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO), funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF); the Europe-based Virgo detector; and some 70 ground- and space-based observatories. So, watch the video to hear the "sound" of two neutron stars colliding.
