Most physicians who offer thyroid RFA are endocrinologists, ENTs, interventional radiologists, and surgeons. But cytopathologist Yasmin Elshenawy saw the value that thyroid RFA could bring her patients. She researched and sought out training in this innovative modality on her own. In doing so, she not only became the first RFA provider in the state of Tennessee, but also the first cytopathologist in the United States to do so. Dr. Elshenawy is paving the way for other cytopathologists to join the ever growing interdisciplinary team of RFA providers in the US.
