It is the first game from director Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions after their disbandment from Konami in 2015. It is set to be released for the PlayStation 4 by Sony Interactive Entertainment in November 2019, and for Microsoft Windows by 505 Games in mid 2020. The game is set in an apocalyptic United States, where a cataclysmic event known as the "Death Stranding" caused "BTs"—invisible creatures originating from the "Beach", a land said to be the link to the afterlife—to begin roaming the Earth. The game Follows Sam Porter Bridges who is tasked with connecting various Cities together and ultimately rebuilding America. He will do this by making deliveries and connecting any settlements he finds to the "Chiral Network". While doing this though Sam will need to face Bandits, BTs, Timefall and the "Homo Demens", an isolationist group who prefers it if no one is connected. Actors Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Troy Baker, and Lindsay Wagner provided the motion capture, 3D Model Scans & vocal performances, while film directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn make special appearances.
