Hello friends of Beyond The Fly! Welcome to "Fly Fishing New Tailwater For Beautiful Trout" This will be the 6th episode in the All Roads Lead To Fly Fishing Series. I must say that is stretch of water totally redeemed itself. The first trek in a couple years ago left me with bumps, bruises, and a broken fly rod. At that time I wasn't in the best of places and just wanted to get on some new water. Mama Nature had other plans and ended up winning in a big way that day. Flash forward and here we are. Ready to hunt this section of water once again. Even though I've seen this place in the past, I never got to fish it. That is a key component to all this and what the meaning behind the episode is. To me fishing new water is like being an early day explorer mapping out the country side, charting the lay of the land for others to see one day. There is nothing better than showing up to a place you've never seen knowing you get to fly fish it for the 1st time. There is an unknown that comes with fishing new water. It takes you out of your comfort zone and the risk of being skunked is huge. That is where the excitement comes into play for me personally. It a good spot to be when you are the underdog. If you are paying attention, taking it one step at a time, and putting in the work. The worst that is going to happen is that you learn something. You become a better angler. You carry with you everything that happened that day and that my friends is experience. What's wrong with all those benefits? So what if you get skunked. Come back again and don't make the same mistakes. Keep learning and put in the work. Today the work paid off and I'm casting my vote that in this episode you'll see one of the most beautiful rainbow trout that I've been honored to film, to date! The color and spotting of this fish was truly remarkable and only nature could come up with putting spots on the outer edge of a fishes eye. How truly special it is to hunt these incredible fish.
