South Koreans post supporting messages on social media to health authorities fighting COVID-19

Kim Jae-hee tells us more. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been on high alert to keep the fast-spreading coronavirus under control. It's Director-General, Jung Eun-kyeong, has been in charge since the very beginning,... and has been briefing the nation thorughout the outbreak. In her first briefing on January 20th, when the first coronavirus case was confirmed in South Korea,... wearing a black jacket, Jung seemed alert and well organized. But as the days passed, and more coronavirus cases were confirmed, Jung appeared fatigued, with her hair beginning to turn gray. During her February 24th briefing, her hair was noticebly shorter,... reportedly cut to save time when getting ready. South Koreans who noticed the changes have begun posting pictures and messages of encouragement on social media. The hashtags "Thank-you, KCDC", "We support you, KCDC" spread quickly on Twitter. Messages on the internet expressed gratitude to the KCDC,... with people promising to support them until the virus outbreak is under control. Some even called Jung a "woman warrior", and a "hero", and assured that they will keep her in their prayers. Even the President Moon Jae-in has mentioned Director General Jung,... a Blue House official told reporters on Wednesday that the President was worried about her health,... and hoped that she can continue to keep up her strength. Even under a lot of pressure and anxiety,... health authorities in South Korea are giving their best efforts, gaining strength from the people's support.
