SIN OPENS A DOOR FOR THE ENEMY | THURSDAY EVENING SERVICE | MAKE JESUS FAMOUS

Genesis 3:1–10... [7] Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked;... [8] And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.* When Adam and Eve sinned, their physical eyes were not blind. God was still relating with them, despite the fact that something had gone wrong. Adam was no longer in the place where God had put him. Sin trapped Adam, dropping him from the spirit realm into the flesh realm. His life was now driven by the five senses. This was unlike before. Despite having physical eyes that were open, he was still relating with the spiritual world rather than being governed by the physical. The communication between Adam, Eve, and God in the preceding verses of Genesis 3 took place while they were in different realms because the union between God and man had been destroyed. Remember, there is no way God could communicate with Adam unless he was in the spirit, because God is a Spirit. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:1 to lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, because sin hinders our fellowship with God—the place where we experience divinity and communion with Him. Apostle Paul says: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” — Colossians 3:2 Man has a duality of habitation: he can exist in the material world, but he can also choose to live where God is because of his divine nature and design. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We have a choice regarding where we operate from, but the Scripture above tells us to set our minds on things above and to be spiritually minded if we are to walk effectively in this life. Man lost fellowship with God because he disobeyed an instruction, and that disobedience opened the door for Satan to attack all that had been placed under man's dominion. The evil we see in the world today entered through the door that sin opened to the enemy. We need to understand this if we are to be effective in spiritual warfare and defeat Satan continually. How does satan gain access to our lives? 1. Through the ears You must learn to seal and sanctify your ears with the blood of Jesus because the ears are one of the gates through which Satan can attack you. That is why Jesus stated in Mark 4:24, “Take heed what you hear...” God also asked Adam in Genesis 3:11, “Who told you that you were naked?” This shows the importance of paying attention to what we allow into our ears. If this gate is not guarded, the enemy can use what we hear against us. 2. Through the feet God told Joshua: “...Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” — Joshua 5:15 It is through our feet that we have direct contact with the earth, and the places we walk and stand can influence our lives and our destiny. That is why the Bible speaks of having our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace and of putting on the helmet of salvation as part of the armour of God. We must therefore be careful about where we go, where we stand, and what we participate in. 3. Through your mind Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. ‘Eat and drink!’ he says to you, but his heart is not with you.” Watch what you think about because your mind is a gate through which the enemy can gain access to your life. The devil can do nothing if you do not give him room. This is why Ephesians 4:27 says:*“Nor give place to the devil.”* Wherever the devil finds an opportunity to operate, there is an opening that has been given to him. Therefore, guard your mind and bring your thoughts under the authority of God's Word. 4. Through your hands Hands can also become points of contact and influence. Many things can be exchanged through physical contact, including through the laying on of hands. Be careful what you use your hands for. Do not engage your hands in activities that are contrary to the Word of God, because what we do with our hands can become a point of access for ungodly influences. As sons of God, we must destroy the works of the devil. Sons must war because whatever God has promised us will come to manifestation as we walk in the Spirit. Therefore, we must pay attention to the Holy Spirit, watch our steps and our words, and live repentant and broken lives before God. God tells us in Jeremiah 32:40: “And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.” Pray that the Lord will saturate you with the spirit of the fear of the Lord. There has to be an honest and heartfelt departure from anything you know grieves the Holy Spirit. We must understand that Satan looks for opportunities and openings through which he can work.
