Nearly 3,500 structures in Calcasieu, Cameron and Vermillion parishes are being considered to be lifted to protect them from future flooding. Back in 2016, a feasibility study was done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify eligible structures as part of their flood risk reduction program.
