Suspect in Commercial Robbery Shot, Detectives Seek Second Suspect

On May 15, 2017 at approximately 10:45 p.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a business located in the 1400 block of North Rainbow Boulevard to investigate reports of an attempted robbery and a possible suspect shot by a victim. Arriving officers located an adult male outside of the business suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the UMC Trauma Center with what appeared to be critical injuries. The investigation by the LVMPD Commercial Robbery Section indicated several employees were inside of the business and preparing to close for the evening. The employees were approached by a male suspect with his face partially covered by a bandana and armed with an assault-style rifle who reportedly demanded the employees to get on the floor. One of the victims drew a handgun and fired multiple times at the suspect, striking him at least twice. The suspect fell to the ground and the victims ran from the business. A few minutes later, the suspect got up and walked outside of the business where he was located by arriving patrol officers and taken into custody. The injured suspect was identified as 30-year-old Kyle Johnson and a prior booking photo accompanies this release. The investigation also indicated a second masked suspect had entered the business behind Johnson, but fled prior to officers’ arrival. The second suspect was described as a black male adult last seen wearing a grey hoodie, black shorts and a white bandana over the lower half of his face. This suspect fled the scene in a newer model, dark colored 4-door sedan. Anyone with any information about this incident, or any information on the identity or whereabouts of the second suspect, is urged to contact the LVMPD Commercial Robbery Section at 702-828-3591.
