President the ANC Women's League, Bathabile Dlamini, has been found guilty of perjury in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. The Former Social Development Minister denied that she had intentionally lied while testifying at an inquiry established by the Constitutional Court into her role in the 2017 social grant crisis. The inquiry, headed by Justice Bernard Ngoepe, investigated whether Dlamini should be held personally liable for the costs of the South African Social Security Agency debacle. The judge found that Dlamini had been evasive in her answers during the inquiry. Earlier, the Constitutional Court declared the contract between the SASSA and the company tasked with distributing social grants, Cash Paymaster Services, illegal and invalid.
