#Eurogroup - Eurosummit and Eurogroup will have "strategic role on defining" priorities in budget

President of Eurogroup Mario Centeno addressed the press after June Eurogroup meeting on 13 June 2019. Ahead of the Euro Summit, Eurogroup had 3 areas where they wanted to make significant progress: the budgetary instrument for convergence and competitiveness, the ESM Treaty and Banking Union. Centeno said there was a consensus regarding the instrument, which Centeno said will “finance structural reforms and public investments in coherent proposals from member states,” as well as strengthen the euro. He said that the application of the instrument relies on the budget, which will be decided by member state leaders on a later date.
