The Bluenose Leaves Her Cradle

Remembering that beautiful day on September 29th , 2012 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia when the Bluenose II once again slipped into the water. One was proud to be a Nova Scotian, a Maritimer, and Canadian. I thank my God for these words which describe this event. "The Bluenose Leaves Her Cradle" is an original song written and composed by Millie MacDonald. A maritimer, always surrounded by marine activities, developed a great love for the Bluenose as a child from her Dad. He was a navy vet from World War II and also made a career on the water as a lobster fisherman after the war. His love for marine schooners and ships of all kinds was a passion which he passed on to his family - Millie for one. Born and raised in Pictou, Nova Scotia (another seaport town). She was surrounded by a musical family and friends, Millie fell prey to guitar playing and singing. After many years of retiring from music and song, Millie once again, is enjoying her passion in her retired life with the added blessing of song writing.
