Episode Four: "The Week in STASHED" with Blogxilla of Global Grind
Internets, dimelo. For you non-Spanglish speakin' individuals, that roughly translates to "'Sup." As you oughta know by now *HeatMakerz chipmunk sample voice*, it's Friday; which means it's time for another episode of The Week in STASHED. While STASHED EIC Kaz was called away on some wrestling-related pilgrimage known as Summer Slam where athletes from age Bobby Shmurda (okay, maybe not that young) to Mickey Rourke grapple 'till their battered and bloodied for cool-looking belts, yours truly drew the hosting duties for episode four of our weekly news and pop culture recap. To keep it real from the jump, I'd conceived a few shenanigans for this week's episode to ensure that my Week in STASHED debut would morph into a viral music video a la the Manning Bros "Fantasy Football Fantasy" and start a bidding war amongst the record labels. Sadly, right now just doesn't seem like the appropriate time to reenact OJ Da Juiceman's legendary XXL Freshman 2010 freestyle (2:45 mark) for you guys. Don't worry, my day of viral infamy will arrive soon enough. Now, on to the topic at hand. For this week's episode, I was joined by Global Grind Senior Entertainment Editor, and movie connoisseur, Blogxilla. We, of course, had to converse about the tragic police shooting of unarmed African-American teen Michael Brown, which took place in Ferguson, Missouri last Saturday. We spoke on the way in which the media is covering the incident and some of the impactful images that are going to leave a lasting impression on younger generations. The conversation also went to the untimely passing of comedy and Hollywood legend Robin Williams, and some of the fonder moments in his career. It's not all downers this week though, folks. As you're likely aware, Drake was fined by the NBA for subtly pitching league MVP Kevin Durant on coming to play for the Toronto Raptor once he becomes a free agent after this upcoming season. While we're both #Knickstape representatives, Xilla and I were split on the legitimacy of the NBA's reaction. I guess he wins this round since he touched Bridget Kelly's armpits. I'll be sure to one up homie when I meet my WCW errday, aka Rita Ora. On the music tip, we spoke on the verified commodity that is Drake's penchant for jumping on records of little known artist's records and making them skips levels of fame, specifically Makkonen's "Tuesday (Remix)" which dropped this week.
