Spencer Finds Out About Toby! Pretty Little Liars 3x16 Recap - Misery Loves Company

And recapping it in just that order, this one featured the big reveal when Spencer discovers Toby is on the A team. So after she's planned this big anniversary dinner for him, she greets him in the dark -- yes, there's a big storm as all of the drama is unfolding -- asking if he's looking for the key she's holding -- it says A on it. And she totally knew as soon as she found a photo id of Toby for the Radley Sanitarium. This episode titled Misery Loves Company also features major breakthroughs with Aria. Basically, we learn that Meredith is masking her want to help a sick Aria and she's actually drugging her, so that she passes out -- Meredith even locks Aria in her room -- all so that Meredith can find the pages from Alison's diary that prove Byron was being blackmailed by Ali up until the night of her death. Emily and Hanna go to check on Aria after witnessing Meredith's shadeball ways and they're all locked in the basement. Aria winds up believing that her dad was not involved in Ali's death and she burns the diary pages. In fact, it looks like Melissa may have been the last one to see Ali the night of her death... based on flashbacks. Oh yeah, and we gotta recap how Aria straight up talked with Alison about the entire situation, how Ali bribed Byron but didn't actually follow through on it as well as how Aria shouldn't be drinking the tea from Meredith. Aria wakes up, of course. We love that Marlene King directed this episode -- nice work!! Another big piece of info that we learn is that A is a girl -- because at one point, Mona says to Toby that the Liars need to know that SHE is in charge. One more plot to add in, Hanna goes to meet up with a local designer and guess what? It was a set-up by A and just after Hanna sees the reflection of a girl looking like Alison in that red jacket, there's a scene where a hooded figure swings all of these creepy hanging (and headless) mannequins at Hanna and she falls to the ground. Meanwhile, Caleb sneaks to meet up with Paige -- they're discussing how to take down A before A retaliates against Hanna, Emily and the rest of the PLLers. Spencer is absolutely devastated about Toby and finding out that he's in cahoots with A and in the end, we see Mona sitting down at Toby's place, enjoying the special homecooked meal made by Spencer to celebrate one year of Spoby.
