Trapping is one of the five major areas of combat. Punching, kicking, trapping, grappling and the weapon. Elbows and knees are also a big part of striking in JKD. However, when it comes to trapping we use it as an entry to attack and get closer to our opponent. When done properly, it also shuts down an opponent’s offense. Bruce Lee did Wing Chun which is an art that is heavily dependent on trapping. In Jeet Kune Do, trapping is an element but by no means more important than any of the others mentioned above. In JKD we believe the tool being used is only as relevant as the situation. Therefore no tool is completely superior in all situations. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel!
