1950 BUICK SPECIAL SEDAN - MOVING INTO THE FIFTIES

1950 BUICK SPECIAL SEDAN - MOVING INTO THE FIFTIES

A total redesign fitted the Buick car this year featuring a toothy grille, side opening hood and always the portholes. There are three Buick models this year starting with the Series 40 Special, Series 50 Super, and the Series 70 Roadmaster. The Special cam in a four door sedan, Coupe, and sedanet and rode on a 121.5 inch wheelbase. Buick Specials came in a tourback model or that fastback, called the sedanet. The engine under the side opening hood is a Fireball Dynaflash straight 8 with 248 cubes providing 155 - 120 horsepower coupled with a Dynaflow transmission. Another feature common with some cars of this era is the three-piece rear backlight. Of the fourteen color choices for 1950, this original survivor is finished in Carlsbad Black over Niagara Green. Except for the closed trunk lid, I enjoy seeing a show car all opened up for viewing pleasure. Thanks for viewing.
