On Good Friday, the Catholic Church fixes our gaze upon the Cross at Calvary. The church altar is stripped of its ornaments, the altar made bare, and the tabernacle is empty and open -- as if in mourning. Traditionally, there is no Mass and no consecration of the Eucharist on Good Friday. A liturgy is performed and communion, if taken, comes from hosts consecrated on Holy Thursday. The Good Friday Liturgy is formally known as the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord. Good Friday is a day of fasting within the Church. Good Friday is not the end of Holy Week, which is why this video finishes with "To be continued".... Christ didn't just die on the Cross to redeem us from sin: He rose from the dead! He is alive! And we celebrate His Resurrection Day this year on Easter Sunday 12th April 2020. Join us for our Easter Sunday Mass online video, which we hope to share with you from Saturday 11th April 2020, 6pm (GMT +8) in place of the traditional Vigil Mass. #GoodFriday #PassionOfTheLord #Liturgy #3PM
