Ambulances driving away STORYLINE Israeli soldiers and Palestinian gunmen exchanged fire Monday at the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza, killing one Palestinian and wounding at least 10, the Israeli rescue service and Palestinian hospital officials said. The Israeli military said Palestinians opened fire on Israeli forces, who returned the fire. The military also said it did not know if the wounded were hit by Israeli of Palestinian fire. Israeli TV reported no Israeli casualties. However, according to Palestinian hospital officials, a seriously wounded Palestinian was being treated in the hospital. Ambulances were seen moving in the region at dawn. According to the drivers, the exchange of fire took place between the Hamas militia and Israeli soldiers at the Erez crossing.
