2017 world champion and 2014 Rio Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara of Japan got off to winning start at the 2023 BWF World Championship by easing past Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam in straight games on Monday in Copenhagen. The 28-year-old Okuhara won 21-15, 21-12 to advance to the second round and talked about her comeback from injury after the game: "It was really difficult to stand on this court, but with the help of many people, I am really happy that I was able to stand on the court. I want to focus on continuing to improve so I can play better in front of the fans."
