Mercedes C230K W202 M111 timing chain tensioner

UPDATE June 2013: Looks like the chain broke. Stranded me on the way to work. I wasn't even driving hard. Just cruising along at 55. It poked a hole in my freshly powder coated valve cover. Probably looking at bent valves and another head gasket kit. It's just money, right? This noise was apparently a sticky spot in the chain that was compressing the weak tensioner, making the noise. I timed the clunk/tap/squish/whatever sound and divided it into the idle RPM to diagnose. Replaced the tensioner and the noise was much quieter, but still present. Guess I should have replaced that chain "while I'm in there". As of 06/11/13 I have not even removed the valve cover yet. I will hopefully get to it this week and I'll post an update video of the carnage. The source of my mysterious galloping tap. The tensioner is not locking or holding oil pressure. You can see oil is flowing out of the cam bearings. This is a common repair from what I found. It is an easy replacement if you have the non supercharged engines. The supercharger must be removed to access. You do NOT have to disassemble as far as I did. I wound up replacing the head gasket and had the head resurfaced.
