Roger Stone professes innocence, seeks legal funds

(31 Jan 2019) Former Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone, who arrested last week and charged with lying about his pursuit of Russian hacked emails during the 2016 campaign, told reporters he'll mount a vigorous defense, while insisting he's been charged only with "after-the-fact process crimes." Stone spoke in front of a poster urging people to donate to stonedefensefund.com, and said he's not accused of Russian collusion or conspiracy.   The political operative is accused of lying to lawmakers, engaging in witness tampering and obstructing a congressional investigation into possible coordination between Russia and Trump's campaign. He pleaded not guilty this week. Stone also said he was heartened by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, who has called for a briefing from the FBI on the tactics that were used when agents arrested Stone in a pre-dawn raid last Friday at his Florida home.
