Wern Ddu has something for everyone from absolute novice to the regular experts that attend. It changes from wet to dry and the owners are often changing the layout and lines that you can take. It's a free for all and you can go anywhere you think you can make it really. there are a few fire roads that are one way so the marshalls/machinery can get up but other than that go for it. There tends to be a lot of sitting around from people judging hills and watching others, part of the fun but you'll find the experts doing small loops repeatedly over and over faster and faster building stamina, strength and bike skill. 2 hours of that and you're done compared to a day of hill climbing and laughing at others. All depends on your discipline and what you want to achieve. For many of us it's not that serious it's just fun, for the professionals it's their career.....
