Customer connections - Fonterra

KiwiRail and Fonterra are back on track following the reopening of the North Auckland Line, a vital freight link that was out of action for more than 18 months due to New Zealand's severe weather events of 2023. Its closure posed significant transport challenges for Fonterra and required extensive remediation work by KiwiRail. Fonterra has gradually increased volumes, now moving up to 16 wagons per day. This return to rail plays a critical role in supporting Fonterra’s customer commitments and sustainability goals as through this partnership the Co-op is significantly cutting the carbon footprint associated with moving its product to market. For Fonterra, keeping the North Auckland Line open and resilient is essential to delivering for customers. KiwiRail is committed to enabling that by bolstering network reliability, enhancing performance, and unlocking the full value of rail. In this video, we visit Fonterra's Kauri site near Whangārei and see how long-standing collaboration between KiwiRail and the Co-op drives export success.
