As the WWE Women's Championship, it was one of the original three titles created for then-WWE SmackDown! brand and one of the two titles (along with the WWE Cruiserweight Championship) to be brought over to WWE's Raw brand as a result of the 2005 WWE draft lottery. The title was deactivated in 2010, but was later brought back in 2016.
