Daily COVID-19 cases soar above 99,000 in the United States

Coronavirus cases in the United States have soared to more than 99,000, the highest single day increase for any country since the pandemic began. There are concerns the upward trend could push hospitals past capacity, with the country also reporting more than 1,000 additional deaths, taking the total tally to 230,000. Health experts warn if greater measures are not taken to curb outbreaks, strict lockdowns may be necessary.
