6-year-old girl hit by car in east Kansas City

A 6-year-old was hit by a car Friday evening on U.S. 40 near Phelps Road. Kansas City police said the girl is a foster child and was trying to runaway from home when she was hit. The driver stayed at the scene. The speed limit in the area is 45 mph. Police said it was dark and the driver was unable to stop in time.
