Catholic TV Mass Online October 6, 2019: 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Presider: Fr. Arul Ponnaiyan Parish: St. Paul & Sacred Heart Choir: Heart of the Nation TEXT FROM THE GOSPEL AND HOMILY The Lord be with you, and with your spirit. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Glory to you o Lord. The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." the Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea' and it would obey you. Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'" The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ I have a small story to tell you about how mother Theresa, my sweetheart saint, who moved, who changed a stoney heart into a loving heart when she left the convent to respond in responding to serve the poorest of the poor, she had nothing. Not even a single penny. So she found a little home for the orphans, especially newborn babies who were left on the streets and she was going to collect some money to feed these hungry children and she was going from shop to shop and extending her hand and begging for money. And one of the shop owners, when she extended her hand just spit on her hand. And mother Theresa said, 'Thank you, this is for me. But I need some for the infants that are starving. So she extended the other hand and that act of Mother Theresa just changed the shop owner and he felt ashamed of his act and responded with helping her to feed all the starving children that day. When our life gets going tough, when we lose our job or lose our loved ones, or when our health fails, we seem to doubt God's loving protection. And I think that is the time that we need to look, draw upon the strength of those who love us, those whose faith is stronger than ours, so that we can hold on to our faith in God. Have you ever experienced that when you were in a situation where you felt that the whole world seems to be closing in on you? And that you have no way to escape? But there is someone comes to save you from that situation, to be your redeemer. And that is who God is. So brothers and sisters, we are a community of believers. We are not alone. And we need to look up to people in our community, in our family, who will help us to stay strong when hardships or difficulty strike us. Remember, a tiny mustard seed that size, that faith can save us, and that can help us to grow in our faith, not only we to be saved, but also to save all the people who are struggling in our midst.
