Object Lesson - The Tongue is a Fire

Here's an object lesson you can use to teach your group that the tongue is a fire that can burn other people. Gossip, lies and unkind words can do a lot of damage. On the other hand, we can make a habit of blessing others by speaking words of encouragement, kindness and helpfulness. The Bible passage this time is excerpts from James chapter 3; The Tongue is a Fire. Best for a midweek youth event. This is a great way to get kids listening to your talk on the importance of watching what we say. BUT--it is fairly gross since the object is a cow's tongue! Probably not a good idea for Sunday School. The tongue is for you to display as you talk about excerpts from James chapter 3, commonly called The Tongue is a Fire. The Lesson Plan suggests two activities: A challenging brain buster called Word Ladders, plus an all-group game of Hangman.
