Asch Solo - Repair Fonbot ~ Van (Unknown) | Tales of the Abyss

Abyss HD Info (Some graphics shown are my own mods): https://www.lifebottle.org/#/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phew... one of the toughest battles out of the way, but we aren't in the clear yet. Still have Arietta 2 and some other tough fights coming up soon. Modifications: Removed/Changed The Party Unlocked FSC and All Accessories Early Manually Adjusted Attack/F.Atk Stats Increased Rending Stun Hitstun from 50 to 60 (combos work without, but can be inconsistent) Repair Fonbot: Attack: 3100 This thing isn't too difficult, as long as you don't overcommit to aggression. The spells are instant-cast, but spells are easy to dodge in this game. They have slow startup, so you can literally just move away from them. Just like any other boss, this one is vulnerable after casting so it's extremely easy to get combos going. The main threat of this boss is the huge laser attack you see at the beginning. It will always open with this attack, and then use it again after losing around 40k HP on Unknown. This attack doesn't feel reactable on animation, but I could be wrong. Your best bet is to track your damage and start dodging the attack before it even starts. Since this fight is pretty easy, I opted for a way more aggressive and risky strategy instead. I cancel the first one with Overlimit, and the second with Light Blast. Light Blast is normally pretty bad, because it will often drop hitstun between its own hits. In this case, I use it to my favor to "trick" the boss into using its laser attack. Which then gets canceled before it can go off. For the final laser attack, I knockdown with Lightning Tiger Blade first. This isn't necessary, but gives me a very lenient window of dodging. God General Trio: Attack: 4200 Here we go... this one is probably the hardest main story solo in the entire game. I don't think I have it in me to no-hit this one right now. Not without halting the entire run and hating the process to get there. I also took Glory, but tried not to blatantly abuse it to run though attacks or tank them. It's more so there for when I get clipped by the edge of an attack or by Largo's massive hitboxes. Or if I want to use an FoF without dying. I'm perfectly fine with this. Not every fight needs to be no-hit, and I'm surprised I made it this far without taking any damage. As for the strategy for this fight... surviving is the top priority. Legretta must be killed first, otherwise she'll revive her allies. This is easier said than done, because she can easily ruin your approaches with her ranged attacks. Ideally you want Arietta and Legretta to cast at around the same time, while you bait Largo's attack. Then use the recovery frames to get a bit of quick damage onto Legretta. This can be very tough to do, especially if you get into bad RNG where Legretta decides to keep chasing you down instead of spellcasting. Using Mystic Arte on her early into the fight seemed to make her prefer spellcasting, but I can't say for certain. After Legretta goes down, the fight becomes much easier. Arietta only spellcasts, so you can bait out Largos attacks and go in for Arietta while she's recovering. Van: Attack: 4200 Van is... kind of weak. He's a lot easier than some of the other recent bosses. You can manipulate him into mostly using spells by being far away from him, and then go in for attacks while he's recovering. Just be very careful about Dark FoF's. Van can use them for Frigid Coffin, which has hits that come out very quickly. It can catch you off-guard compared to how slow other spells are to start up. Radiant Dragon can be an issue, but you get used to either double jumping over it or jumping towards him to dodge it. Van's Overlimit feels very strange... sometimes I'll have him use Overlimit multiple times in a row, and other times he won't use it the entire fight. Towards the end of the fight, I mainly stick with ranged attacks since I'm worried about him using Overlimit. Van also gets a new attack called Shining Blade at low HP, which can really catch you off-guard. It comes out fast, and can anti-air against single jumps. Credits for the Rending Blast - Havoc Strike combo goes to ‪@mystearia5441‬ (at least this is where I learned it from). It requires a blue FSC on Rending Blast, and for the enemy to be up against a wall. Normally I don't like to "copy" others, but this one looks cool so I wanted to show it off in at least one fight.
