Plunge Cut Before the Notch

Plunge Cut Before the Notch

This cut is rarely used but comes in handy when you have a lot of front lean on a smaller diameter top (under 10"). In order to prevent barberchair it's best to use a plunge cut. But there isn't much room to cut a proper notch (face cut) and the back it up with a plunge cut. So the best solution is to make the plunge first, then put in the face cut. The face cut ends up being very shallow and small, but there is still plenty of hinge to control the drop.
