Mother of man killed by CMPD files lawsuit for 'unreasonable and excessive' force

The mother of Danquirs Franklin, a man shot and killed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police in 2019, has filed a lawsuit against CMPD and the City of Charlotte. Franklin was killed by CMPD officer Wende Kerl outside the Burger King on Beatties Ford Road in March of 2019. The family's lawsuit alleged “unreasonable and excessive” deadly force and a “willful and wanton disregard’ of Franklin’s rights.
